Maybe it's the material of their uniforms that was the difference maker. Hopefully, someone will figure out how to use that to the Cubs advantage.
Hey, Michael Phelps was able to use that excuse as to why he lost his race, so why not the Cubs?

The Cubs swept the Washington Nationals last weekend. 4 games, 4 wins.
Nice.
The Cubs almost got swept by the defending champs, the Philadelphia Phillies. 3 games, 1 win.
Not so nice.

Well, Cubs fans, your trusted scribe comes to you today from the nation's capital, thanks to the day job with blues man Lonnie Brooks.
And like most road trips, I do what the players tend to do (albeit in a less than swanky hotel suite): I'm watching a movie, A League of Their Own. Seems appropriate since I won't be anywhere near the Friendly Confines this weekend.

Ah,the beauty of the standards of Cub fans.

Ah.
The first week of April. Just like always, there's snow on the ground here in Chicago. Perfect for opening day.
Luckily, the Cubs begin their 101st season of (hopefully not) futility in the warm bosom of Houston's Minute Maid Park, formerly Enron "take the money and run" Field. That stadium is domed, climate regulated, and almost makes you feel like you're not actually in Texas.

After a thrilling major league debut with the Cubs in a late summer series against the Florida Marlins, RHP Jeff Samardzija has been under close scrutiny by the team’s staff and fans alike. The 24-year-old Samardzija impressed manager Lou Piniella enough in the waning weeks of the '08 season to be included on the Cubs’ ill-fated post-season roster. Now, after a recent win in an exhibition game against the LA Dodgers, he’s starting to prove himself all over again.
