It seems that the Cubs have just bolstered their lineup considerably.
Manny Ramirez has been suspended.
That's right. The star slugger of the Los Angeles Dodgers has tested positive for a banned substance and is out for nearly 2 months.

The St. Louis Cardinals, our (Cubs fans) nemesis and arch rivals, were here in Chicago this weekend for an early "Big" series.
The Cubs and the Cards. When you really think about it, this particular rivalry overshadows the often over-hyped Cubs vs. Sox rivalry by far, these days (yawn). In fact, even the Cubs/Brewers rivalry is bigger than the rivalry with the Sox, too. I mean come on, the Sox play at Wrigley during the week and during the day as opposed to on a weekend when TV is ruling the baseball universe in a far greater capacity than it does in the infancy of the 2009 season.

Ah.
The first week of April. Just like always, there's snow on the ground here in Chicago. Perfect for opening day.
Luckily, the Cubs begin their 101st season of (hopefully not) futility in the warm bosom of Houston's Minute Maid Park, formerly Enron "take the money and run" Field. That stadium is domed, climate regulated, and almost makes you feel like you're not actually in Texas.

If you were to peruse the Rudin family archives, you would no doubt find an overwhelmingly lengthy series of correspondences between me and my father. You would sift through stacks and stacks of letters with boldface writing and all capital letters reading endless shouts and arguments over the likes of the Mike Sirotkas, Todd Heltons, and many other now-irrelevant players.
