…And to think that we progressives, liberals, and Democrats were thrilled with the election of Barack Obama as our 44th President. It turns out that the biased nutjobs over at FOX News can celebrate as well – their ratings have coalesced around emerging as the (no surprise here) strident voice of anti-Obama-ism.
O’Reilly, Beck, Hannity…the smaller name righty barkers…the model-school drop-out "anchors"…the failed former pol and strategist guests – they all keep lining up over there to fill up Rupert’s airtime as the "Fair and Balanced" opposition to the landslide-elected current government. (Of course, as long as by "Fair and Balanced" you mean "FAIRly unimpressed with ANY positive facts related to anything Democratic" and "BALANCED on the edge of frothing madness"…)
At this point, of course, President Obama could completely fix the economy, catch bin Laden and wipe out Al Qaeda, bring peace to the Middle East and the Gulf regions, AND straighten out the prime-time schedule so that "24," "Heroes," hockey and basketball playoff contests, and baseball games don’t all compete at the same time on Monday nights…and those bitter, clenched right-wingers would STILL find ways to pick on and whine about his performances and results. (Coming soon: More criticism about the choice of puppy for his daughters!)
Thanks to Media Matters for putting together this collection of FOX News idiocy – it’s five-and-a-half-minutes of sniping, negative, sour grapes out of the mouthpiece of the rapidly declining side of American political philosophy. So, while we all mark 100 days as a good-news progress point in the ongoing journey…to them, it’s just another day of trying to shovel crap at the President and his party…
